Hangzhou is a popular tourist destination known for its natural beauty, cultural heritage, and modern amenities, with popular itineraries often including visits to the top attractions such as West Lake, Lingyin Temple, Meijiawu Tea Village, and the Hangzhou Silk Museum, interesting cultural activities and top things to do like tea and gastronomy culture discovery, as well as shopping and dining experiences in the city's vibrant cultural district.

1-day best Hangzhou itinerary

  • 9:00 AM - Start your day with a visit to the famous West Lake. Take a boat ride around the lake to enjoy the scenic views and admire the many temples and pagodas that line its shores.
  • 11:00 AM - Head to the ancient Lingyin Temple, one of the largest and most renowned Buddhist temples in China. Admire the intricate carvings and sculptures, and take a moment to reflect on the peaceful surroundings.
  • 1:00 PM - Enjoy a delicious lunch at one of Hangzhou's many local restaurants, sampling some of the city's famous dishes such as Hangzhou Fried Rice or Longjing Tea.
  • 2:30 PM - Visit the China National Silk Museum, where you can learn about the history and art of silk production in China.
  • 4:00 PM - Take a stroll through the picturesque Liuhe Pagoda, a six-story wooden pagoda that dates back to the Song Dynasty.
  • 5:30 PM - End your day with a visit to Hefang Street, a lively pedestrian street lined with shops, restaurants, and street performers. Enjoy some local street food and shopping before making your way back to your hotel.

2-day highlights of Hangzhou itinerary

Day 1:  West Lake Scenic Area and Lingyin Temple, Meijiawu Tea Village; In the afternoon, visit Meijiawu Tea Village to learn about the production of Hangzhou's famous Dragonwell tea. Take a tour of the tea fields and try a traditional tea ceremony at Hefang Street - After the tea experience, head to Hefang Street, a bustling pedestrian street lined with shops, street food vendors, and street performers. This street is a great place to sample local specialties and pick up souvenirs.

Day 2: Hangzhou Zoo, Solitary Hill - After the zoo, China National Silk Museum - In the afternoon,  Wulin Square - End your day by strolling around Wulin Square, a bustling commercial and entertainment district in Hangzhou. Enjoy the lively atmosphere, sample some local street food, and catch a performance at one of the local theaters.

Day 1:  Arrive in Hangzhou and check into your hotel, Visit West Lake and Visit Lingyin Temple. Day 1: arrive in Hangzhou, visit West Lake and Lingyin Temple, take a relaxing tea break at Meijiawu Tea Village, and end the day with a visit to the city's night market, where you can enjoy delicious street food and local snacks.

Day 2: visit the Hangzhou Botanical Garden, take a walk along the vibrant and bustling Hefang Street, the Six Harmonies Pagoda, a historic Buddhist pagoda that offers breathtaking views of the city and the Qiantang River. End the day with a visit to the Wushan Night Market.

Day 3: Hangzhou to Suzhou, a city famous for its traditional gardens and canal system. visit the Humble Administrator's Garden, take a boat tour along the Suzhou Grand Canal, and visit the Suzhou Museum, a modern museum that showcases the city's rich history and cultural heritage.

Day 4: Visit the Lion Grove Garden, and Suzhou Silk Museum, take a stroll through the Pingjiang Road Historic District and Enjoy a delicious local meal before returning to Hangzhou or continuing your journey.

5-night trip itinerary to Hangzhou Suzhou and Shanghai

Day 1:  Arrival in Hangzhou and visit the West Lake, In the evening, head to Hefang Street, a bustling pedestrian street filled with shops, street food vendors, and local specialties.

Day 2: Start the day with a visit to the Lingyin Temple, and head to the tea plantations in the Meijiawu area to learn about the history and production of Hangzhou's famous Longjing (Dragonwell) tea. In the evening, try some of Hangzhou's famous cuisine, such as Beggar's Chicken and Dongpo Pork.

Day 3: Take a train to Suzhou, about an hour away from Hangzhou. Visit the Humble Administrator's Garden, in the evening, walk along the historic Pingjiang Road, and visit some of the city's historic bridges and canals.

Day 4: Visit the Suzhou Museum, and explore the Lingering Garden, another famous classical garden in Suzhou. Take a scenic boat ride along the Grand Canal. In the evening, visit the Suzhou Silk Museum to learn about the city's long history of silk production.

Day 5: Take a train to Shanghai and visit the Bund, a famous waterfront promenade with stunning views of the Pudong skyline. Walk along Nanjing Road, one of Shanghai's main shopping streets. Visit the Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in China and the second tallest in the world, for a panoramic view of the city.
