Harbin is the capital city of Heilongjiang Province and also the largest provincial capital in China by land area. Located in southern Heilongjiang at the southern end of the Songnen Plain, the city is traversed by the Songhua River. With a long and rich history, Harbin is regarded as one of the birthplaces of the Jin and Qing dynasties. Religious architecture representing Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, Judaism, and Christianity coexists throughout the city, reflecting a spirit of cultural inclusiveness and the broad-minded character of Harbin itself.

Harbin is also a renowned travel destination. Few cities inspire such fascination with snow and ice. Every winter, laughter and excitement fill the famous Harbin Ice and Snow World and the frozen Songhua River, where people seem to forget the cold entirely. Visitors can enjoy lively ice lantern festivals, lifelike ice sculptures, thrilling alpine skiing, and ice skating on frozen rivers. As night falls, strolling along the bustling Central Street becomes a memorable experience—elegant European-style buildings glow beneath the city lights, magnificent Orthodox churches stand proudly, and a bite of the iconic Madieer ice lolly give you a perfect taste of Harbin's unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures.

Although Harbin covers a vast area, its most worthwhile attractions are concentrated around Central Street and Sun Island. Whether it is Saint Sophia Cathedral, the famous Madieer ice cream, Ice and Snow World, or the Polar Ocean Park, many of the city's highlights are located within this area, making Harbin an ideal destination for a short getaway.

Then visit the magnificent Saint Sophia Cathedral, renowned for its exquisite architecture. Continue to the banks of the Songhua River, where you can admire views of the Sun Island in the distance and stop by the Flood Control Success Memorial Tower. At the southernmost edge of Harbin lies a small village embraced by snow for nearly seven months of the year.
