We are back home and back to our regular routine. Still, we speak of the trip often and we are having a lot of fun sharing our experiences (with friends) and of course we are also sharing all the pictures.

We enjoyed so many of the attractions! We both loved walking along the wall. We also loved walking along the Bund in Shanghai - especially at night. The warrior soldiers in Xian are a very special sight, as are the pandas in Chengdu. The scenery in Guilin was so beautiful. Going through the gorges on the Yangtze cruise was also memorable. Another thing that stands out is seeing the monks’ debate (in Lhasa.) I also enjoyed seeing the grottoes (Datong) and the hanging temple.

All of our guides were wonderful. We had no complaints at all. Our favorite hotel was the Radisson Blu in Shanghai. We had a few favorite meals: Peking duck (a dinner in Beijing) was great. Daki also took us to a vegetarian restaurant for lunch one day. In Beijing, and we really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. In Xian we had a dumpling lunch that was very special. Leo in Suzhou took us for a fabulous lunch - we ate a special fish (Mandarin or sweet/sour?).

Although we enjoyed seeing the monks debating, I am not sure that I would encourage people to go to Tibet. Perhaps if one travels further in Tibet would get more out of it. I know that I wanted to go and I am glad we went, but it was my least favorite part of the trip.

Also - if people are traveling to Guilin during the warm weather, please encourage travelers to bring cool clothing. Guilin was the warmest place we visited, and I wish that I had brought Capri length pants - or shorts - and cooler tops. The clothing that I brought was fine for all the other places that we visited. We were only too warm in Guilin.

For both of us - Shanghai was a WOW! I was sorry that we did not have a chance to ride the really fast train in Shanghai (the one that goes to an airport.) We went to the other airport. If I were planning the trip again, I would spend more time in Shanghai. (I guess we'll have to come back again!)
