Guizhou is a kingdom of mountains, a world of water, and a museum of caves. Nature has created Guizhou’s unique landforms. Its distinctive mountains and rivers are becoming a destination people long to visit. If you have seven days to explore Guizhou, how can you make the most of your time and fully experience its allure? This guide will provide you with a detailed itinerary for an unforgettable seven-day trip, ensuring that you can explore Guizhou to the fullest without missing out on its wonders.

7 Days Guizhou Itinerary for Family with Kids

Day 1: After arriving in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou, rest briefly at your hotel before heading to Qingyan Ancient Town, a great place to stroll around while tasting local delicacies, and also an ideal spot for photography. In the evening, return to the city center.

Day 2: Visit Huaxi Yelang Valley in the morning, see those unique and mysterious stone pillars and gorges filled with artistic character. After that, head to the Tianhetan Tourist Resort, enjoy an interesting day. In the evening, you can turn to watch Jiaxiu Tower and explore local delicacies along the snack streets.

Day 3: Head to the Huangguoshu Scenic Area to view the Huangguoshu Waterfall. You can also walk behind the waterfall to experience its beauty from another perspective. Then, visit other attractions such as Tianxing Bridge, another highlight of the Huangguoshu Scenic Area. In the evening, you can stay overnight at Anshun or head to Pingtang.

Day 4: In Pingtang, you can experience one of China’s nine major scientific projects—the China Tianyan. Watch the largest radio telescope FAST, explore the International Astronomy Experience Hall to uncover the mysteries of the universe. In the evening, head to Libo.

Day 5: Start by visiting the Xiaoqikong Bridge, and then follow the route to admire the waterfalls and forests along the way. Finally, arrive at Wolong Pond, where you can also enjoy a rafting experience. In the evening, head to Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village and climb to the viewing platform to admire the thousands of lights illuminating the village.

Day 6: Go up early to the viewing platform again to see the morning sight of the Miao village, and then experience the charm of the Miao culture. In the evening, head to Zhaoxing Dong Village, and you may choose to stay in a stilted wooden guesthouse.

Day 7: Visit the largest Dong village in China, feel the humanistic landscape and local customs there. When on your way back, you can head to Liping County or the nearby Guilin City in Guangxi Province.

Day 1: After some rest at your reserved hotel, head to Qingyan Ancient Town to visit the Ming and Qing dynasty architecture and sample local delicacies. Return to the city center after dinner, followed by a visit to the night view of Jiaxiu Tower.

Day 2: Head to visit the world-famous Huangguoshu Waterfall and Tianxing Bridge, and try to complete the entire walk if possible. In the evening, stay overnight in Anshun to ensure a good rest for the following journey.

Day 3: Take a train or fly directly to Xingyi, then visit the Maling River Canyon. You may choose to stay overnight in Xingyi County or at a hotel within the scenic area.

Day 4: Head to Wanfenglin Scenic Spot and take a sightseeing bus along the mountain road to enjoy the views of Wanfenglin, the Bagua Fields, and the Bouyei ethnic villages. At noon, you can try a local Bouyei farmhouse meal. In the evening, still stay at Xingyi.

Day 5: Take a train to the Xiaoqikong Scenic Area, and nearby lies the Daqikong Scenic Area. In the evening, head to Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village and you can climb up to the viewing platform to overlook the brilliant, dazzling night scenery of the village.

Day 6: Feel the charm of a traditional Miao village, let yourself be fully immersed in the atmosphere here. You can try the Miao long-table banquet and enjoy the warm hospitality of the Miao people. Stay overnight at the village in a stilted house.

Day 7: Return to Guiyang, head to Qianlingshan Park and watch lively monkeys. From the mountain top, you will get a panoramic view of Guiyang.

Day 1: First visit Qingyan Ancient Town, where the Ming and Qing–style alleys are perfect for photography. In the evening, return to the city to visit the brilliantly lit Jiaxiu Tower, then stroll through Qingyun Night Market to discover authentic street food.

Day 2: Travel to the Huangguoshu Scenic Area, explore the magnificent waterfall, walking through the Water Curtain Cave to experience the beauty of nature. Return to Guiyang in the evening and stroll around Hequn Road for snacks.

Day 3: Visit Huaxi Yelang Valley, and after lunch, head to Huaxi Wetland to quietly enjoy the beauty of the Ten-miles Riverbank. You can also rent a bicycle and ride along the path, taking in the scenery as you go. In the evening, head to Zunyi City.

Day 4: Head to Loushan Pass or Zhuhai Park. In the afternoon, visit Maotai Town, where the aroma of liquor fills the air, an unmissable place for travelers who love liquor. If you are interested in military history, you can also learn about the movement of Four Crossings of the Chishui River. In the evening, proceed to Chishui.

Day 5: Explore the Chishui Danxia landforms and the Grand Waterfalls, The spectacle is every bit as magnificent as the famed Huangguoshu Waterfall. In the afternoon, take a flight to Tongren and prepare for the next-day mountain climbing.

Day 6: Climb the mist-shrouded Mount Fanjing. Take the sightseeing bus and cable car up the mountain, then climb to the peak for photos. In the afternoon, descend the mountain and stay either at a hotel at the foot of the mountain or try RV camping. If you want to watch the sunrise of Fanjing, you should camp on the mountain or stay at the temple.

Day 7: Head to Yamu Valley to get close to nature and embrace its mountains and waters. The colorful valley and Yamu Waterfall offer refreshing coolness in summer, while the Tujia Cultural Park allows you to experience Tujia cuisine and customs.

Day 1: The first stop is the Qingyan Ancient Town, where you can admire the Ming and Qing-style architecture. After dinner, return to the city center to enjoy the night view of Jiaxiu Tower, and visit Qingyun Night Market to experience Guiyang’s vibrant nightlife.

Day 2: Visit the Guizhou Provincial Museum in the morning, where you can explore the history and culture of Guizhou. Leave for Xiasi Ancient Town, a melting pot of Miao, Muram and Han cultures. Stay overnight in a stilted wooden guesthouse at Kaili Dong Village.

Day 3: Head to Delang Miao Village and then arrive in Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village. Both of them are good place to experience the Miao custom. In the evening, you can enjoy the magnificent night view of the village on the viewing platform.

Day 4: Drive to Congjiang and visit the mysterious Basha Miao Village, China’s last gun-bearing tribe. Then continue to Zhaoxing Dong Village, where the ethereal Kam Grand Choirs sounds like music from heaven, and at night the drum tower by the water glows brilliantly like a field of stars.

Day 5: Head to visit Zhenyuan Ancient Town, where temples of Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism stand together along the mountainside. You can also take a cruise along the Wuyang River to see the beauty of Guizhou’s mountains and waters. After dinner, check in at a guesthouse in the ancient town to rest, and enjoy the night view of the old town.

Day 6: Drive to the Buddhist sacred site Mount Fanjing. Ascend the sacred Buddhist site of the Red Cloud Golden Summit, and see the cliffside stone carvings, enjoying a sweeping view of the surrounding peaks. In the evening, head to Zunyi and check in for the night.

Day 7: Visit the Site of the Zunyi Conference to learn about that chapter of history which changed the fate of China. After lunch, head to Loushan Pass, the location of the Red Army’s first victory during China’s Long March.
