8 Days Guizhou Photography, Explore Guizhou with Your Camera

Upon arrival, meet the guide at the train station exit and head directly to Huanggang Dong Village. Hidden in the hills and rice fields, it is quite difficult to access and this is what makes it so authentic. Immerse in a world seems to be cut from rest of the world where Dong ethnic culture is almost uninfluenced by other cultures. Drive for about 1 hour to the hotel at Zhaoxing Dong Village for overnight after that.

Zhaoxing Dong Village

After breakfast, discover Zhaoxing Dong Village, which is the largest Dong Village in southeastern area of Guizhou Province with over 1000 households. Then drive about 30 minutes to Tang’an Dong Village, which was built on a steep mountain slope. Explore the ancient wooden houses, the traditional drum tower there to learn about the local life. Here you can also have a chance to view beautiful rice terraces.

Your lunch will be arranged at Zhaoxing Village before setting off for Jiabang Rice Terrace, which takes about 3 hours one way. Upon arrival at Jiabang village, your guide will help with check in. You may rest for a while at the hotel or go out to explore the village on your own. If weather permits and you have enough patience, you may wait till the sunset for some nice pictures.

Tang’an Dong Village

Today is scheduled for Jiabang Rice Terrace. Scattered among the terraces like planets dotted in the Milky Way, are the distinctive Miao Diaojiaolou, or the stilted wooden house. Every morning the clouds and fog slowly rise from the riverside. These beautiful terraces and buildings are all shrouded in clouds and mist. From a distance, it looks like isolation in nature.

Jiabang Rice Terrace

Get up early if you wish to shoot the amazing sunrise over the rice terrace and weather permits. After breakfast, set off for Datang Short Skirt Miao Village, which is famous for the local Miao women's short skirts, the wooden house and the unique fireproof granaries, built on the water to protect the granaries from the fire. 

Today’s night is for the stunning Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village. Being the largest gathering place of the Miao ethnic group in China, about ten natural Miao ethnic villages exist in Xijiang Town. Miao culture is best preserved in this area. Climb up the observation platform where you can see the village sparkle in neon lights. Do not forget to record this splendid picture with your camera.

Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village

The air in the early morning is quite fresh. Get up early and continue to explore Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village for some great photos. After lunch, you take a 2.5 hours private transfer to Zhenyuan Ancient Town, which has a history of over 2,200 years. Take a boat cruise down Wuyang River, which cut through the ancient town. After the cruise tour, be transferred to your hotel for check in. Night is on your own arrangements.

Wuyang River

Take a morning tour to Qinglong Cave, backed by green hills, facing green water and fit with the cliff. It is not only a cave but also a combination of Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian architects. Wander in the ancient lanes of Zhenyuan Ancient Town to get more beautiful and rustic pictures before leaving. After a delicious lunch in town, you will be transported to Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou Province.

Qinglong Cave

Wake up naturally today. After breakfast, drive to the largest waterfall in China, Huangguoshu Waterfall. This waterfall is actually a waterfall group including 18 falls on the ground and 4 underground falls.

Continue the exploration to Tianxing Qiao Scenic Area, 7 kilometers downstream of Huangguoshu Waterfall. It is a natural bonsai-landscape area formed by changes of stone forests on the water. You will be transferred back to Guiyang after the visit.

Today is your departure day. Go to the airport with the escort of the guide and driver. The guide will help you with the airport check-in. Wave your goodbye to them.
