Harbin to start 72-hour visa-free transit policy

Harbin to start 72-hour visa-free transit policy

Harbin, the capital of Northeastern China's Helongjiang Province, now offers a 72-hour visa-free entry policy for international passengers starting on August 1, 2015.

Harbin is the fifteenth city in China to embrace this policy, following Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xi'an, Kunming, Chengdu, Chongqing, Shenyang, Dalian, Guilin, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Xiamen, and Tianjin.

The policy covers tourists from 51 countries and regions, including the United States, Russia, Britain, France, Japan and more. They are able to stay in Harbin for 72 hours upon entry at the Harbin Taiping International Airport. There, they should provide a third country visa and ticket as proof of leaving the city within 72 hours.

Harbin is well-known for its beautiful ice sculpture festivals in the winter between December and February. Harbin airport has already launched direct flights to Russia, Japan, the Republic of Korea and other countries in Southeast Asia.
