
Hangzhou is bright in its culture and profound in its cultural deposits. Since the late of Neolithic period, Liang-chu culture, Wu-yue culture, Southern Song culture and Ming-qing culture have come out successively which forms a complete cultural system.
Since 1980s, Chinese Tea Museum, Chinese Silk Museum, Chinese Liang-zhu Cultural Museum, Southern Song Official Ware Museum, Huqingyutang Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum, and Zhang Xiaoquan Scissors Museum were built consecutively, making cultural connotations more profound.
Coming into the new century, Hangzhou will heavily protect and build historical and cultural value protection area such as Liang-zhu cultural site distribution area, Wu-yue cultural protection zone, southern Song imperial city site protection area, Qing Dynasty imperial palace protection area and folk drum-house protection area of late Ming and early Qing Dynasty. Moreover, Hangzhou will continue to build several hall of fame and theme museums to make it modern and remain features of a complete historical and cultural famous city.
