Andy and I stayed at the Hans Royal Garden Hotel. It is a beautiful historic boutique place not far from good activities. It is near a charming, clean and retail focused Hutong with restaurants and WIFI bars all along. A fun place to spend the evenings w/o taking a taxi anywhere, if you are there, try the Mao Mao Chang Pizza restaurant run by an Aussie. Also the Blind Massage parlour on the busy corner was one of the best I"ve been to yet. We had a Wonderful tour guide named Amy through Morgen at morgen@chinaculturetour.com. He is the "broker" and she lives in Beijing. It included a driver and just the 3 of us at every spot. Much preferable to the large bus tours, I'll leave that for the Germans. We also ate at Capital M near the Forbidden city, very nice American cuisine with an awesome evening view from their 3rd floor terrace.
