The Best Travel Season

The best travel seasons to travel to Zhangjiajie are spring and autumn. In the spring, you can enjoy scented grasses and fallen blossoms, hang at the Golden Whip Brook, admire the Ten-mile Gallery, explore the Huanglong Cave and experience entering the ancient Shangri-la in Zhangjiajie. In autumn, the sky is clear and colorful trees surround the mountains. During this time, fruits like kiwi and tangerine are ripe. In contrast, the summer is hot and rainy while the winter is cold. Thus, spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons to visit.

Scenic areas recommended in the spring: Golden Whip Brook, Ten-mile Gallery, Huanglong Cave, Baofeng Lake.

Golden Whip Brook runs through mountains, valleys and clouds. The stream is clear. As a paradise for plants, its pathways are adorned by an abundance of flowers, trees, and grasses. This place is a kingdom for various fauna-birds, fish and land animals. Walking by lucid brook is one of the best places to visit as it appears like a painting. In Suoxiyu Scenic area, there is Huanglong cave and Baofeng Lake. They are great places for sightseeing.

Scenic spots recommended in autumn: Tianzi Mountains, Yuanjiajie Scenic Area, West Lake, and Fengqi Mountain.

After raining, the sky is clear and the scenery on Tianzi Mountain is spectacular. It is always said that West Lake is a wonderful scenic area especially seen from a ‘rooftop’. Also, there are thousands of pinnacles in the area.

Tips:

  • The road is wet and slippery on rainy days. Rain and fog may result in not seeing the road clearly, so climbing the mountain in rain is not advised.
  • Golden Week and Summer vacations are at the height of the season in Zhangjiajie. The prices of all services increase since it will be very  inconvenient to take public transportation and find accommodations.
