This 800-meter long North-South alleyway is filled with bars, cafes, restaurants, artsy little shops, souvenir shops and cute boutiques. It's worth to spend an hour or two walking through the little alley ways and hutongs around it.

    Temple of Heaven :

    a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design which simply and graphically illustrates a cosmogony of great importance for the evolution of one of the world's great civilizations, and had a profound influence on architecture and planning in the Far East over many centuries. You can see lots of Beijingers practicing Taichi in the morning and you can join them.

    Tian'anmen Square:

    The heart of urban Beijing and large enough to accommodate an assembly of one million people. It stands in front of the Forbidden City, at its north the Tiananmen Rostrum, from which imperial decrees were promulgated.

    Forbiden city (With Hall of Clocks and Watches):

    Built between 1406 and 1420, the Forbidden City was the palace of the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties, a period extending over 500 years. The atmosphere created by the many temples, halls and courtyards - not to mention the colors of the tiles, roofs and painted wood - is unique, leaving you with a lasting impression of imperial China. The palace has over 9000 rooms. Hall of Clocks and Wathches: It is located in the east of the Inner Court outside the Gate of Respect Movement (Jing Yun Men). This exhibition hall houses about 200 clocks and watches from the imperial collection. Those watches and clocks are mostly made in Switzerland, England, France, the U.S and Japan, with some Chinese made timepieces on display as well.

    Summer Palace and Cruise:

    The Forbidden City (zijinchéng) was the Chinese imperial palace of 24 Emperors from the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Also known as the Imperial Palace (Gùgong), it is the largest and best-preserved collection of ancient buildings in China. Covering an area of 720,000 square meters, there remain 980 buildings and 8704 rooms in this palace, with a city wall of 10 meters high in four directions and a moat of 52 meters in width. There set four huge gates on the four sides, among which Meridian Gate (Wu men) in the south and Divine Might Gate (Shenwu men) in the north are open as the entrances for tourists. Tiananmen also serves as the main entrance of the Forbidden City in the south.

    Mutianyu Great Wall(less crownded, about 2.5 hours drive, comfort for seniors by taking cable car up and down):

    Located in Huairou County 70km northeast of Beijing, Mutianyu section of Great Wall is connected with Juyongguan Pass in the west and Gubeikou Gateway in the east. As one of the best-preserved parts of the Great Wall, Mutianyu section of Great Wall used to serve as the northern barrier defending the capital and the imperial tombs. First built in the mid-6th during the Northern Qi dynasty, Mutianyu Great Wall is older, less crowded, more original than Badaling Great Wall.

    Cable Car at Mutianyu Great Wall (Round Trip):

    You can take cable car up and down to experience a birdview of the less untouched Great Wall at Mutianyu section.

    Ding Tomb(about 1 hour drive, be careful of the slippery steps):

    Also known as the “13 Tombs”, this is the burial site of 13 Emperors of the Ming Dynasty. The tombs are located at the Tianshou Mountain of Changping District. From 1409, the first tomb called “Changling Tomb” was built and the last tomb called “Siling Tomb” was constructed in 1644. Altogether, there are now 13 tombs of Emperors, 23 of Empresses, 2 of Princes, about 30 concubines, and eunuch.

    You will travel by taking a rickshaw or called pedicab, visit a local famliy in a traditional courtyard, talk to the host and hostess, perhaps on your are interested in topics such as a beijinger's daily life, etc. Finally we will climp up the Drum Tower where you can have a bird's eye view of the old Beijing city.

    Chinese Dumpling Making At Hutong:

    The jiaozi is a Chinese dumpling which consists of meat and minced vegetables wrapped into a piece of dough. Popular meat fillings include shrimp, ground lamb, ground pork, ground beef, and even fish. Jiaozi are usually steamed or boiled. If they are fried, they are called potstickers. Compared to wontons, jiaozis have a thicker skin and are longer.

    Yungang Grottoes:

    The Yungang Grottoes, in Datong city, Shanxi Province, located on the southern foot of Wuzhou Hill, some 16 kilometers west of Datong, are known as one of the three major cave complexes in China, with the other two being the earlier Mogao Grottoes at Dunhuang in Gansu and the later Longmen Caves at Luoyang in Henan. Yungang Grottoes Yungang Grottoes More than 1500 years after their execution, are the masterpieces of Buddhist Sculptures. The 53 large sized caves, are scattered over the southern foot of Wuzhou Hill, sprawling for over a kilometer form east to west. The hill looks like a huge honeycomb full of Alveoli. Inside the caves are more than 50 thousands of solemn and time honoured statues of Buddha,Bodhisattva. Grottoes Nos. 16-20 are the earliest of the Yungang Grottoes and of the utmost grandeur.

    The Nine Dragon Screen:

    The Nine Dragon Screen is the oldest one, located in Datong city, Shanxi Province. It was built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Shanxi Province is said to be the largest screen of its type anywhere in China, which is 45.5 meters (150 feet) long, 8 meters (26 feet) high and 2.02 (6.6 feet) meters thick and consists of 426 pieces of glazed tiles.

    Shanhua Temple:

    Shanhua Temple is so called the South Temple because it lies in the southern section (Nan mian) of town, just within the confines of the old city walls.That temple covers greatly area, the courtyard is broad, and the buildings are grandiosity. The monastery sits in the north faces to south.

    Pingyao county government office was first built in 1346DC.Except for a Yuan style building, most of it are rebuilt in Ming Dynasty. It is composed of archway, ceremonial gate, six divisions, the prison, the court, meeting room, residential area and garden. Incontrast with Chenghuang Temple, it responsible for governing “Yang” world meaning the human world, while Chenghuang Temple for go verning “Yin” world meaning the spiritual world, which showed the good will of the people.     Pingyao Ancient Town:

    The Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses of Qinshihuang (the First Emperor of China of the Qin Dynasty) can be traced back to 210 BC. The pits of them were discovered in 1974 by local farmers near Xi’an City. They are close to the Qinshihuang Mausoleum. The Terracotta Warriors and Horses are funerary clay figures buried with the First Qinshihuang, the purpose of which was to help rule another empire with Qinshihuang after his death.

    Xian City Wall :

    Built in the Ming Dynasty in 1384, the Bell Tower covers an area of 1,377 square meters and is about 33 meters in height. The tower has 3 stories and it is in brick and timber structure. There is a huge bell that weighs 5 tons hanging at the top of the tower which was stricken at dawn to signal the beginning of the day. There are other smaller bells on display in the tower.

    Drum Tower:

    To the west of the Bell Tower is the Drum Tower. This is a smaller building, but standing on top of the Drum Tower gives you an incredible view of Xi’an. The Drum Tower got its name from the huge drum placed in the tower. The drum used to be beaten at sunset to indicate the end of the day.

    Muslim Street:

    Xian's Muslim Quarter, north of the Drum Tower, is home to around 30,000 people of the city's Hui (Chinese Muim) population.The narrow, twisting streets are full of butcher's shops, restaurants, food stalls, sesame -oil factories, souvenir shops and tea shops. The area is a great place to stroll day or night to shop or soak up the unique atmosphere of this historic area.
