Kevin Guo
KevinI was born in the year of 1980,on the 16th of August according to lunar calendar, which is the day right after the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Day, so to speak, a lucky day. My father was a coal-miner and my mother a full-time housewife. I spent my childhood in the coal-mining area where I was born and there I also finished my primary education in a school which was specially built for the children of the miners.
I wrapped up my junior high school education in the same school and then I was faced with the annual entrance examination for senior high school and at the same time for vocational school which was very popular during that period of time, which also garneted a job after graduation. Because of my family''s financial background I chose to take the latter and luckily I passed it.
In the year of 1996 I was accepted by the Datong Gear Group Vocational School and learned how to make gear boxes. But it turned out that I was sent to a Real estate Company which was affiliated to the Gear Group. All I had to do in the office was newspaper-reading and chatting with my workmates which was such a bore! I began to think about learning something.
In 2002 I made up my mind to learn English in Datong New Oriental English Training Center in my spare time. A lot of time and energy was put into English learning between 2002 and 2004. Most of the time I learned the Language on my own. During the three years I also passed CET4 with a score of 88 and CET6 with 81.Most importantly I took part in the National Guiding Qualification Examination under the influence of my English teacher who dedicated himself to guiding in the 1980s.I have been working as an English-speaking tour guide ever since.
I have been always having the passion for what I am doing now and firmly believing that an always-better future is being reserved for the tourism industry in China!
