Hong Kong Introduction


Hong Kong, the world famous international financial center, trade center and free port, is reputed as “Oriental Pearl” and “City of Life”. On July, 1st, 1997, Hong Kong, governed by Britain for 150 years, finally returned to its motherland and becomes special administrative region of the People’s Republic of China.


Hong Kong can be divided geographically into three regions, Kowloon, Hong Kong Island and the New Territories (including Island District). Victoria Harbor is between Kowloon and Hong Kong Island. Although both of them cover a small area of Hong Kong, they are the most prosperous areas in Hong Kong. In this small area, Tsim Sha Tsui of Kowloon and Central of Hong Kong Island, center of economy, culture, lie in the each side of Victoria Harbor.


The New Territories, like a circle surrounding the peripheral of Hong Kong, cover an area of most of Hong Kong including Island District. There are numerous country parks and walking trails in the New Territories. With good ecological environment, ecological leisure is displayed. The famous Lantau Island is also located in the New Territories, in which you can find Disneyland, Tsing Ma Bridge, Buddha in Baolian Temple and Hong Kong International Airport. Moreover, Lamma Island, Saigon and Cheung Chau are all bright pearls in Island District of the New Territories.
